We feel passionately that it is our teams’ skills, style, enthusiasm and experience that sets a Palladium Training learning experience above the rest. With over 200 years of experience in identifying, designing and delivering people development solutions, each and every member of our team are experienced in developing enduring client relationships, and ensuring total quality control.

Backgrounds span the private, public and voluntary sectors, and our size enables us to form close working relationships, whilst retaining the capacity and expertise within the team to meet a diverse range of challenges.

John Mayne

Managing Director


John founded Palladium Training and Consultancy Ltd in 1998, after a career in sales and engineering consultancy with British Aerospace, Perkin Elmer and TAB Products. He provides an energetic and enthusiastic approach to people and organisational development.

John has a proven track record of success and the ability to build trust and rapport with a wide range of people to make a real and tangible difference to an organisation’s performance.

Between 1980 and 1990 he managed a range of engineering projects at British Aerospace, Coltax Aerospace, Hants & Sussex Aviation and the Royal Naval Aircraft Yard at Gosport, Hampshire. In 1990, he became involved in the project management of designing and implementing record management solutions to local government departments. With over 18 years experience in managing, both people and projects, John founded Palladium Training after a short experience with Dale Carnegie Training.

He has a broad experience in the design and delivery of personal skills, and management and leadership development programmes. These engage the learner and generate the motivation and commitment to learn and develop. John has worked closely with multi-national companies, local government and small to medium enterprises, at all levels. Clients include European Aeronautical and Defence Systems (EADS), UK Detention Services, The Patent Office, Companies House, Exel Europe UK Ltd, General Dynamics, Caerphilly County Borough Council, Cardiff City Council and Thames Water Services.

John has worked closely with the Institute of Leadership and Management to ensure the quality of learning and development delivered is of the highest standard, and his focus is achieving measurable business results.

Kim Mayne

Quality Director


Kim started her career as an engineer with Plessey Radar having gained an HND in electronics at Brooklands University. Following a period of maternity leave she then returned to work in a technical capacity within the education sector. Firstly, in Secondary Education and subsequently, for 14 years at the University of Wales.

Her role at the University included the design and delivery of technical workshops and individual tutorials to undergraduate and post graduate students in Art, Media and Design.

Kim has worked with Palladium since 2007 and is responsible for the design and development of team events. By designing programmes inspired by the creative arts, Palladium’s Team Events have led to improvements in communication, cooperation, creativity and trust. Each team building event is created from a specific brief and is tailor -made by working closely with your organisation to ensure the most appropriate event.

In 2013 Kim became the Quality Director at Palladium. She is responsible for all aspects of IQA and liasing with our accrediting bodies, ilm and The Institute of Leadership & Management .

Alex Mayne 

Business Support Assistant


Alex is a highly experienced administration manager who has worked on numerous projects for clients across all sectors.

Alex manages Palladium’s administrative and business support functions, with an emphasis on getting things right first time for our clients.

He produces high quality documentation and plays an important role in terms of Palladium’s client care.

Alex has great communication skills, an attention to detail and a willingness to go the extra mile to ensure clients enjoy a great experience with Palladium Training.

Alex has undertaken a variety of training programmes to help him to fulfil his role here at Palladium. These consist of:

  • ilm Level 3 Award in Leadership and Management
  • Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate
  • Business Administration Diploma

Helen Kwinta

Business Support & Marketing Manager


Helen re-joined Palladium in March 2011 after an absence of 12 months, during which time she spent time developing her skills in photography and video editing with a local training company. She has both knowledge and experience in delivering painting (BIG Picture) and Film Making (Commercial Break) based team events with a variety of management and non-management groups. The technical knowledge to support these events has been achieved through a BA (Hons) Degree in Documentary Film and Television, together with a Foundation Degree in Fine Art.

Helen has now been with the company for over 9 years during which time her main responsibilities have been in a Business Support function. Helen took on a new role as Business Development Manager back in 2017. This role requires her to liaise with Programme Directors, Executive Trainers, current Clients, and potential new Clients. Helen manages all marketing elements, which includes the Palladium website, training events and all marketing materials.

Helen has undertaken a variety of training programmes to help her to fulfil her roles here at Palladium. These consist of:

  • Digital and Online Marketing

  • Managing and Developing Key Accounts

Alun Batley

Executive Trainer


Alun is an experienced consultant, coach and training facilitator with expertise in the development and implementation of Lean Systems Thinking, the design and delivery of effective Management Development workshops, and the introduction and integration of sustainable change initiatives. Alun’s workshops and seminars include a mix of leading edge thinking and practical examples based on personal consultancy experiences in large organisations such as Greggs, Nortel, Panasonic, Robert Bosch, and with SMEs across a broad range of sectors.

Alun is committed to continuous learning and self development, and combines full time employment with part-time study, and was awarded his PhD in 2006. Previously Alun has worked in major multinational organisations as a Training Manager, Production Manager, Performance Improvement Manager and other management roles that required leadership and focus to achieve successful outcomes. Alun uses this wealth of practical experience and expert knowledge to help business leaders, their teams and individuals to grow and develop.

Cath Greenslade

Executive Trainer


Cath joined the Palladium team in 2018, and is a chartered member of the CIPD and PRINCE2 qualified. She has worked in senior HR roles for over 20 years in small and large organisations, which enables her to bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to her workshops.

Cath’s approach is pragmatic, collaborative and solution focused, which is delivered through engaging others.

Her key skills include:

  • Coaching & mentoring for high performance.
  • Resolving potential issues through mediation.
  • Developing positive Employee Relations in both Unionised and Non-unionised environments.
  • Facilitating teams to improve performance through engaging improvement techniques.
  • Delivering inspiring learning workshops.
  • Fluent Welsh speaker.

Cath’s major achievements in her career to date include:

  • Creation and leadership of change programmes/organisational behaviours.
  • Improved communications and employee relations.
  • Development of high performing HR team.
  • Improved productivity in Operations by reduction in headcount with minimum costs and introduction of TPM processes.
  • Creation, development and introduction of company wide talent planning (succession planning) process.
  • Introduced Insights self-development programme.
  • Facilitated functional strategic development days and creation of high performing teams.
  • Successful project management of wage negotiations – 4 sites/3 Unions.
  • Introduced new working practices and challenged out dated agreements; developed successful partnering approach with site unions.

Cathy Edge

Executive Trainer


Cathy is an experienced business consultant and trainer who has been running her own Business Consultancy for over 10 years. She has a broad range of financial and commercial skills, which she is able to draw upon when working with clients.

Cathy has operated to senior levels within the finance and general commercial areas of several quoted PLC’s, and therefore has first hand knowledge of the issues that arise within a changing and developing enterprise.

Previous employers include Westbury Homes, Guinness Brewing, British Aerospace and The Wiggins Teape Group.

In her current role she regularly provides analysis and objective review of business propositions to organisations both within the public, private and third sector, and delivers informative and varied training programmes to a range of SME’s, both within Wales and across the UK.

As a qualified Chartered Management Accountant, her financial expertise is particularly strong in terms of management and improvement of Systems of Internal Control, whilst her commercial experience provides skills in strategic planning and managing change that have been used in establishing subsidiaries and joint ventures.

Cathy’s experience is invaluable when delivering workshops to businesses that are looking for a practical and business focused approach to their learning. Her excellent communication skills mean that she can relate to individuals at all levels.

Gail Ward

Internal Assesor


Gail is a professional, experienced human resources manager, and assessor. She specialises in the assessment of coaching, motivational and development accreditation across all levels of professional management. She has excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Gail has provided coaching, mentoring and assignment support for in excess of 20 years, encouraging candidates to excel at their qualifications.

Gail has undertaken a variety of training programmes to assist her in her role. These include:

  • Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice.
  • NVQ Assessor, Coaching Diploma
