Becoming an Effective Leader

This module has been designed to support practicing or potential team leaders and managers, inspiring others to perform, creating a high performance team and achieving the required goals and objectives.

Becoming an effective leader requires balancing competence with emotional intelligence, focusing on building trust, setting a clear vision, and empowering others. Key actions include cultivating self-awareness, practicing active listening, acting with integrity, and coaching team members rather than just commanding them. Inspiring leaders foster belonging and motivate teams to achieve shared goals.

An inspiring leader moves beyond merely managing tasks, instead cultivating an environment where team members feel motivated to contribute to a purpose higher than themselves.

The key Objectives of this module are:

    • Identify the characteristics of high performance teams and how a team evolves to become high performing.
    • Conduct a Team Assessment to understand team dynamics and identify potential areas for development.
    • Reflect upon the four stages of team development and the leadership styles associated with leading the team through each.
    • Identify your preferred leadership style and the need to adapt to manage different situations and/or people.
    • Identify your personal level of emotional intelligence.
    • Implement a personal development to improve competence and confidence to effectively develop and lead teams.
